In Year 2 we are learning about ‘Kitchen Chemistry’. We are doing a lot of experiments in the classroom, we have made ‘Ooblek’ which presents as both a solid and liquid and we made an explosions using bicarb and vinegar. We are having lots of fun!! Do you know of any experiments that cause a chemical change?
On Friday, the students at Mount Waverley Primary School helped to ‘Clean Up Australia’. We picked up all the rubbish around the school and did activities in the classroom on the importance of recycling and better still decreasing the amount of rubbish we produce. Altogether the school picked up 7.5 kilos of rubbish. This is half of what we picked up last year on ‘Clean Up Australia Day’, let’s hope next year, we have even less rubbish! How do you help to produce less rubbish?
We celebrated Book Week at school this week. Our book was called One Woolly Wombat by Kerry Argent.
The book was a colourful rhyming counting book with beautiful illustrations of Australian birds and animals.
We had a go at writing our own rhyming poem and we also made a wombat. It was a great day and we had lots of fun.
